Ingredients:
For the peach filling:
8 fresh peaches, peeled and sliced
1 cup sugar (organic)
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon cinnamon
¼ cup butter
For the crispy topping:
2 cups all-purpose flour (unsifted)
1 cup brown sugar (lightly packed)
1 cup butter (2 sticks)
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 400°F.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour and brown sugar. Add 1 cup of butter and mix on low speed until crumbly. Set aside.
In another bowl, mix sugar, salt, nutmeg, and cinnamon.
Peel and slice the peaches, then place them in a large bowl.
Stir the sugar combination into the peaches until they are completely covered.
Pour the peach mixture into a three-quart baking dish or a dish that measures nine by thirteen inches.
Sprinkle the leftover 1/4 cup of butter over the peach mixture in slices.
The peaches should be sprinkled equally with the flour topping.
Bake for 45 to 55 minutes, or until the top is golden brown, at 400°F.
Serve hot with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
