INGREDIENTS:
Two pieces of bread (you can choose, but sourdough or another robust bread works best)
Half a cup of marinara sauce * One cup of cooked chicken breast, sliced or shredded
Half a cup of Parmesan cheese, grated
Half a cup of mozzarella cheese, shredded
Two tablespoons of butter or olive oil
Half a teaspoon of optional dried basil
Half a teaspoon of optional garlic powder
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Get the chicken ready:
Cook the chicken breast and slice or shred it if you haven’t previously. You can cook it from scratch or use leftovers. To taste, add salt and pepper. - Put the sandwich together:
Lightly coat one side of each slice of bread with marinara sauce.
On one piece of bread, arrange the shredded chicken on top of the sauce. Over the chicken, scatter the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. Garlic powder and dried basil can optionally be added to the cheese to enhance its flavor.
Place the remaining bread slice on top, sauce side down.
- Prepare the sandwich:
Add one tablespoon of butter or olive oil to a skillet that has been heated to medium heat. If you want a crispier crust, you can use more.
Put the sandwich in the skillet and cook for 3–4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted. Use a spatula to gently press down to guarantee even grilling.
- Offer:
Before slicing, take it out of the skillet and allow it to cool for a minute. Warm up and serve.
