Mexican Restaurant-Style Cheese Dip

This smooth and creamy cheese dip is ideal for gatherings or anytime you want to taste real Mexican food!

Ingredients:
2 teaspoons of powdered onion

Two teaspoons of cumin and garlic powder
two cans of chopped green chilies (4 ounces each)
one tablespoon of butter or margarine
half a cup of milk (or as necessary for consistency)
and one pound of cubed white American cheese

Instructions

  1. Melt the Butter
Melt the margarine or butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add Seasonings
Add the cumin, onion powder, and garlic powder and let them bloom for 30 seconds or so to intensify their flavor.
  3. Add green chilies
Stir thoroughly with the spices after adding the chopped green chilies to the saucepan. Cook, stirring often, for 1 to 2 minutes.
  4. Melt the Cheese
Add the cubed white American cheese gradually, stirring continuously while it melts.
  5. Add Milk for Consistency
Add the milk a small amount at a time, stirring constantly, until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Depending on the required thickness, you might need to add more or less milk.
  6. Serve Warm
Take the dip off of the heat once it has completely melted and mixed. Transfer to a platter or reheat in a slow cooker.
