Gooey Butter Cream Cheese Cake Mix Bars

Ingredients:
One box (18.25 ounces) of yellow cake mix for the crust

Half a cup of melted butter and one big egg

Regarding the Filling:
Eight ounces of softened cream cheese

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) softened unsalted butter
    Two large eggs and one cup of powdered sugar
    A quarter cup of chopped nuts (walnuts, pecans) and one teaspoon of vanilla extract – optional
    One-fourth cup of miniature chocolate chips – optional

Directions:

  1. Prepare the Crust: Put the cake mix, egg, and melted butter in a big bowl. Stir the dough until it becomes crumbly.
  2. Press into pan: Evenly press the dough into a 9 x 13-inch baking pan’s bottom.
  3. Prepare the Filling: Beat the butter and softened cream cheese in a another bowl until they are creamy.
  4. Add the remaining filling ingredients: Beat in the eggs, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar until thoroughly blended. If using, stir in the chocolate chips and optional nuts.
  5. Pour over crust: Evenly cover the prepared crust with the cream cheese mixture.
  6. Bake: Bake for 25 to 30 minutes at 350°F (175°C) in a preheated oven, or until the filling is set but still has some give in the middle.
  7. Cool: Before slicing the bars into squares, allow them to cool fully in the pan.
    Advice & Modifications:
    Swirl: Before baking, gently swirl the cream cheese filling with a knife to create a swirling appearance.
    Different Cake Mix: Try out several cake mix tastes, such spice or lemon.

Add Fruit: To the cream cheese filling, fold in 1 cup of frozen or fresh berries, such as blueberries or raspberries.
Glaze: After the bars have cooled, cover them with a straightforward glaze prepared with milk and powdered sugar.
