Baked bologna sandwiches are a delicious and satisfying meal. This way you make your job easier
INGREDIENTS:
Bologna slices (thick-cut or regular)
Sandwich bread (white, wheat, or your choice)
Butter or margarine
Optional toppings: mustard, ketchup, mayonnaise, cheese slices, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles
INSTRUCTIONS:
Heat a frying pan or skillet over medium heat.
If desired, make a small slit in the back of each salami. This prevents the bologne from leaking during cooking.
Add some oil or margarine to the pan. Once melted and heated, add the bologna slices in a single layer.
Fry bologna slices for 2-3 minutes per side or until edges are browned and lightly browned. If you want, you can cook it longer to make it easier to cook. While the
Bologne is toasting, you can slice the bread in the toaster or on a separate baking tray if you like sandwiches.
Once the bologna slices are cooked to your liking, remove them from the pan and drain them on paper towels to remove excess oil.
To prepare the sandwiches, spread the desired ingredients (mustard, ketchup, mayonnaise, etc.) on one or both sides.
Place the fried salami slices on a slice of bread. If you are using cheese slices, you can place them on top of the hot salami slices to melt them a bit.
Add desired additional ingredients such as lettuce, tomato, onion or herbs.
To make a sandwich, place the other half of the bread on top.
Serve the toasted sandwiches while they are hot and enjoy delicious and nostalgic dishes!
