Ingredients:
One 16-oz box of thawed frozen sweet peas (canned peas also work)
Two hard-boiled eggs, chopped; four to six bacon slices, cooked until crumbly and crisp; or, if desired, one cup of cooked and chopped ham
Half a cup of chopped green onions, or regular onions if you’d rather
1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese (feel free to use your favorite cheese)
1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon of celery seeds (or 1/2 cup of chopped celery)
A dash of cayenne pepper to add a little spiciness
Half a cup of mayonnaise
Half a cup sour cream
Instructions:
Mix the salad:
Thawed sweet peas, diced hard-boiled eggs, sliced green onions, crumbled bacon or ham (if using), and shredded cheddar cheese should all be combined in a large mixing dish.
Add the celery seeds (or chopped celery), salt, garlic powder, black pepper, and a pinch of cayenne for seasoning. To guarantee that the seasonings are dispersed evenly, give it a good stir.
Put It Together:
Mix the sour cream and mayonnaise in a separate bowl until a smooth consistency is achieved. After adding this dressing to the pea mixture, gently whisk to coat everything.
Before serving, chill:
Before serving, place the salad in the refrigerator, covered, for at least one hour. The flavors are able to meld beautifully during this period.
