In reference to the topping:
Quantity of Ingredients
Grated cheddar cheese, 1 1/2 cups

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Meatloaf: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a loaf pan with parchment paper or grease it. In a large bowl, mix the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, chopped onion, garlic, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and thyme. Put the mixture into the loaf pan and form it into a loaf. In a small bowl, combine the ketchup and brown sugar; spread this mixture over the top of the meatloaf. Bake for 60 to 70 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C). Remove from the oven and allow to rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

  1. Prepare the Mashed Potatoes: Boil the potatoes in salted water for 15 to 20 minutes, or until they are soft, while the meatloaf bakes.
After draining, put the potatoes back in the pot. Stir in the butter, salt, pepper, and milk. Mash until creamy and smooth. Put aside.
  2. Top: After the meatloaf has finished baking, top it with shredded cheddar cheese and put it back in the oven for five to seven minutes, or until the cheese has melted and is bubbling.
  3. Serve: Present the meatloaf with the smooth mashed potatoes after slicing it. Add some color and taste by garnishing with freshly chopped parsley.
