Air Fried Crispy Onion

Follow this simple recipe to prepare a simple onion recipe at home. You don’t need to fry onions in tons of oil to get that delicious caramelized flavor and texture. A great alternative to fried onions is to use them in a variety of dishes such as Indian biryani, curries, soups or salads.

2 medium to large onions or about 1 pound
1 tablespoon cooking oil
Directions
Chop the onion into small pieces.
Pour oil over the parts and carefully loosen the rings.
Place the onion rings in the air basket. Heat at 300F for 10 minutes. Mix gently in 5-minute intervals.
Now reduce the heat to 240F and continue heating the ring. Stir gently every 5 minutes. It takes 15-18 minutes at 240F to achieve the desired color and texture.
Points

You can use red or yellow onion. However, keep in mind that red onions will cause the fried onion to turn brown in color.
Cooking times may vary depending on the size of the onion in the fryer. The recipe above makes ~1 pound of onions. If you have a larger batch, continue baking until you achieve your desired color and texture, checking at 240F every 5 minutes
