Ingredients:
Three cups of all-purpose flour and one-half teaspoon of salt
One teaspoon of sugar, one packet of instant yeast (2 ¼ teaspoons), and one cup of warm water (around 40°C) are needed.
• Two teaspoons of melted butter or olive oil
• Spices, herbs, or sesame seeds are optional toppings.
Instructions:
- To activate the yeast, combine the yeast, sugar, and warm water in a small basin. Wait five to ten minutes for it to start foaming.
- Get the dough ready by combining the flour and salt in a big mixing bowl. Add the olive oil and the activated yeast mixture. Mix until the dough becomes sticky.
- Knead the dough: Place the dough on a surface dusted with flour and knead it for 8 to 10 minutes, or until it is elastic and smooth. Add a small amount of flour at a time if the dough is too sticky.
- Let it rise:
Put the dough in a basin that has been oiled, cover it with plastic wrap or a moist towel, and let it in a warm location to rise for one to two hours, or until it has doubled in size. - Form the dough:
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and, depending on your pot or pan, form it into a flat or round loaf.
- Preheat the skillet: Set a non-stick pot or heavy-bottomed skillet over low heat. Lightly coat it with butter or oil.
- Prepare the bread by putting the dough in the skillet and tightly sealing the lid. Cook for 10 to 15 minutes on low heat, then turn the bread over and cook for another 10 to 12 minutes, or until it is cooked through and golden brown.
- To check if the bread is done, tap it; when it is, it should sound hollow. A toothpick can also be inserted, and it should come out clean.
- Allow to cool before serving:
Before slicing, allow the bread to cool on a wire rack.
Savor it fresh with jam, butter, or your other toppings!
